PRS Announces Record Revenue for 2008

PRS for Music (formerly The MCPS-PRS Alliance), the UK performing and mechanical rights society alliance, has announced record financial results for 2008 including over £600m (USD$849.6m) in royalties to UK songwriters, composers and music publishers.

The organization announced an overall growth of 8%, double digit growth in most of their business areas, and new licensing deals for online services.

PRS Chief Executive Steve Porter said, “For the first time our revenue has topped £600 million which is a fantastic achievement. It’s a great boost for the UK songwriters, composers & publishers who we represent and a strong start for our new identity PRS for Music.”
