By • May 11, 2009

Dutch director Jan Kounen’s upcoming account of the romance between legendary fashion designer Coco Chanel and composer Igor Stravinsky, taking place in Paris after Stravinsky’s infamous premiere of ‘The Rite of Spring’, gets an original score composed by Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, Cold Mountain, The Life of Others). Anna Mouglalis portrays Coco Chanel and Mads Mikkelsen is doing the Stravinsky part in the film which is geared towards a Cannes 2010 premiere. Yared is also doing the music for a film called L’√©legance du h√©risson. Furthermore, the composer will premiere his new concert work Eternity, for soprano and orchestra, at the Cannes Film Festival on May 24. Commissioned by France Musique and the SACEM, this composition is based on a poem by Emily Dickinson and is dedicated to the memory of Anthony Minghella.

STRAVINSKY, my favorite composer since childhood:
MADS MIKKELSEN– Outstanding (don’t miss “After the Wedding” the Danish film directed by the brilliant Suzanne Bier).
YARED will bring a wonderful score to this project.
I can”t wait to see this film.
