Wavelore Releases New Pedal Steel Guitar in Kontakt Format

By • June 17, 2009

Canadian soundware developer Wavelore Instruments has announced the release of their long-awaited Pedal Steel Guitar virtual instrument for Native Instruments’ Kontakt software sampler.

The new version of Pedal Steel Guitar uses the advanced Kontakt Script Processor programming to allow independent bending of discrete pitches on a single MIDI channel. This allows users to craft their own original pedal steel guitar licks intuitively and in real-time. Users are afforded the opportunity to set up their own controllers for various expressive factors like the volume pedal, vibrato speed/depth, release sample control, and neck position selector.

Pedal Steel Guitar uses eight-way round-robin samples per note for natural sounding repetitions, convolution-based amp modeling for flexible tone, and in depth programming for complete control over playing style. A full-color 22 page PDF user’s guide illustrates and explains everything from loading and playing the instrument to advanced editing.

Available now as a download from www.wavelore.com. MSRP is $299 USD. A free crossgrade is available on request for those who purchased the original release for TASCAM’s GVI sampler.

I am interested in pedal steel guitar. Previously I was living in Beleghata in my school and college life. Thereafter due to reasons, I have shifted elsewhere, in connection with my job and service. I am playing steel guitar since long with other various instruments. I am having some copies of pedal steel guitar magazine by the help of my GURU Avijit Nath, who unfortunately passed away some years before. If you are interested in full fledged use of steel guitar, contact me through my phone no.9804133036. By the way , my name is not the same as written. I will clear it on direct contact. Okay? ……

In sixties and during late seventies the steel guitar became very much popular in West Bengal. But gradually it perished and wiped out within eighties. Why? The method of playing the steel guitar was totally demolished by the legendary guitarists (mainly) viz. Batuk and Sunil and other followers. They only knew to convert the original scale into A or E. All songs and numbers were modified to A scale or E scale. For which reason music directors did not find it convenient to include the instrument in a flexible scale oriented composition. Moreover, no accompaniment procedure had been taught by the masters of steel guitars. So no body asked any steel guitarist to accompany a song or join any orchestra. Do you think that there is no method of chordal accompany or scale progression? There are plenty of techniques of accompanying Hawiian Guitar or Steel Guitar or Pedal Steel Guitar. Through which all the chords can be used through different scales! But the Bengal’s Sunil Babu and Batuk Babu produced thousands of students of ‘EKTARA’ (a single strung one note instrument to accompany BAUL songs) playing through the said instrument, which is a western instrument with its own possibilities. Avijit Nath cherished the hope of utilizing Steel Guitar in full form in conformity with the world standard. But ‘Man proposes and God disposes’. His priceless life and hopes were snatched away. He was the only hope and future of Steel Guitar in India. His techniques and styles were at par with the world standard. It’s our Bad Luck to lose a person like him.

Now a days almost all the music listeners and musicians (young generation) say that they have not listened about the steel guitar or how that instrument sounds. Music directors dont know the method of utilizing the instrument in the orchestration.
