Film Music Magazine • November 23, 2010

The Ravel Orchestral Study Group in Los Angeles has announced the next open study session to be held on December 17 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Vitellos’ Restaurant, 4349 Tujunga Avenue in Studio City.
The session will be followed by lunch, is open to anyone and has no requirements. The study is led and organized by veteran film/TV composer Ron Jones.

The group will be studying Maurice Ravel’s masterwork Daphnis and Chloe Suites One and Two. This will be an in-depth examination of Ravel’s art and the technique of his orchestrations and music.

Ron Jones brings his professional knowledge and experience to create and present an innovative look into this work. No homework is required, but there are detailed notes and a course of study that one can download and work on at home. It is intended for professional composers and orchestrators, but will be accessible to students, musicians and those interested in learning more about Ravel and this work. This is part of a continuing series.

To get on the e-mail list for course info, please e-mail Ron Jones at ron@ronjonesproductions.com. The notes for the study are available to anyone, so those who are not in Los Angeles can join in the study. Follow this link to download the notes: www.ronjonesproductions.com/ravel
