Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program’s 2 Week Summer Intensive Programs in Film Scoring For 2011

The Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program’s 2 Week Summer Intensive in Seattle, Washington (July 11th – 22nd) has announced there is little over 2 weeks remaining for the early registration discount. The program has been offered for the last 10 Summers and has attracted students from as far away as Australia, Brazil, Dubai, Japan, Scotland. United Arab Emirates as well as from all over the US and Canada.

The program includes the first 2 “core” classes of the internationally recognized regular year program taught by the program’s creator: 2 time Emmy Award winning composer/arranger/conductor Hummie Mann, whose credits include “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”, “Thomas and the Magic Railroad” and IMAX’s “Cyberworld 3D”. The classes cover many topics including: who are the “players” on the music team and what they do – the music supervisor, music editor, contractor, orchestrator, copyist, etc.; discussions of the different types of scores – electronic, acoustic, combination; what are the characteristics of a successful and effective film score; how is music synchronized to film – click tracks and free timing; budgets and contracts; performing rights organizations and royalties; techniques of composition particular to writing dramatic music and much more. Many video and audio examples of the instructor’s work are used in the class and each student receives over 350 pages of handouts including over 200 pages of scores from actual films for study and analysis.

During the 2 week program, besides the 2 core classes, students may choose 2 elective classes – one for each week – all taught by industry professionals. Offered electives include: Songwriting for Film, Composing for Interactive Games, Finale (notation software), Digital Performer and Logic (midi sequencing software) and Studio Technology.

Tuition: $1,550.00 ($1,350.00 if paid in full before May 10th).
