Film Music Critics Award nominations announced

The International Film Music Critics Association has announced its 2005 Award nominees. In the ’Best Original Film Score’ category, John Williams was nominated twice for Memoirs of a Geisha and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The other nominations in this prestigious category are Patrick Doyle’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, James Newton Howard’s King Kong and James Horner’s The New World. Competing for the title ’Film Composer of the Year’ are Alexandre Desplat, Patrick Doyle, Harry Gregson-Williams, Dario Marianelli and John Williams.

The International Film Music Critics Association was formed in 2004 and consists of soundtrack reviewers and film music journalists from all over the world. The winners of the 2005 Film Music Critics Awards will be announced on Friday, March 3. Last year, Michael Giacchino was named ’Film Composer of the Year’ and his score for The Incredibles was announced ’Best Original Film Score’ of 2004.
